Technical SEO is the groundwork that lets search engines find and understand your pages. You do not need to be a developer to run through these basic checks.
Can search engines reach your pages?
Check that your robots.txt file is not blocking important sections, and that key pages are linked from elsewhere on your site. Pages with no links pointing to them are easy to miss.
Are the right pages indexed?
In Google Search Console, look at which pages are indexed and which are excluded. A stray noindex tag left over from a redesign is a common cause of missing pages.
Do you have an up-to-date sitemap?
An XML sitemap lists the pages you want indexed. Submit it in Search Console and make sure it only contains live, canonical pages.
Is the site fast and stable on mobile?
Slow loading and shifting layouts frustrate visitors. Core Web Vitals reports in Search Console show which pages need attention, and large unoptimised images are a frequent culprit.
Are there broken links and redirect chains?
Fix links that lead to error pages and replace long chains of redirects with a single redirect to the final page.
Is your markup accurate?
Structured data should describe what is really on the page. Incorrect or exaggerated markup can be ignored or flagged as an error.
