If your customers are nearby, local search is where many of them start. This quick checklist covers the basics that most local businesses should have in place.
1. Claim and complete your Google Business Profile
Choose the most accurate primary category, add the other services you offer, and keep your opening hours up to date. Add real photos of your premises, team or work.
2. Keep your business details consistent
Your business name, phone number and website should match everywhere they appear. If you publish an address, it should match too. Small differences can confuse both customers and search engines.
3. Give each service its own page
A page that clearly explains one service, who it is for and how to enquire will usually serve people better than one page that lists everything. Only create location pages for places you genuinely serve, and make each one useful in its own right.
4. Ask for reviews the right way
Ask happy customers to share their experience and reply to every review politely. Never buy reviews or offer rewards for them, as this breaks platform rules.
5. Make it easy to get in touch
- A clear phone number or enquiry form on every page
- A site that loads quickly on a mobile connection
- Opening hours and service areas that are easy to find
